Our Competition Team is composed of students in grades 7-12. Under the guidance of our head coach, this Competition Team Coach will do the following:

• Coach & Mentor Competition Team (running practices with focus on teamwork and problem-solving skills)
• Identify needs and create opportunities for members to learn missing competition skills from other members
• Observe how members work together and reorganize to develop strong working partners within the team
• Supervise student-run math classes
• Lead math classes/clubs/camps
• Assist with other key NNVMath programs such as MathRocks! contest series to have a better understanding of math enrichment opportunities available to students, how they run, the level of commitment needed to run them, etc.

For this position, applicants should have the following:

• Needs strong math skills (does not require calculus)
• Experience being a part of a team
• Reliable transportation and availability to work on Sundays
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Time management and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to learn with the team and interest in exploring new areas of math
• Background in math or in a math-heavy field (stats, physics, engineering, etc.) and/or experience with competition math (preferred)

This position is funded by the Regents Service Program and is only open to qualified graduate students. Position is 20 hours per week starting in August and going through the end of May. Stipend is $1700/month with tuition benefits and health insurance through UNR’s Regents Service Program. This is a supervisory position. Must be pursuing a STEM or Education related undergraduate degree. International students are not eligible.

Our Family Math Night(FMN) Coordinator does the following:

• Oversees the FMN program, including: planning, running, promoting, and evaluating.
• Develops a volunteer recruitment and retention program.
• Compile observations and feedback received to update/adjust activities to increase engagement and achieve program objectives.
• Assists with other key NNVMath programs such as MathRocks! contest series to have a better understanding of math enrichment.opportunities available to students, how they run, the level of commitment needed to run them, etc.

For this position, applicants should have the following:

• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Time management and problem-solving skills
• Reliable transportation and availability to work some weekday evenings (events will be planned with school schedule in mind)

Our Family Math Nights (FMN) Assistant Coordinator does the following:

• Support Family Math Nights coordinator
• Lead a Family Math Night, if needed
• Promote Family Math Nights and other events on social media
• Prepare for math competitions and contests
• Assist with other key NNVMath programs such as MathRocks! contest series to have a better understanding of math enrichment opportunities available to students, how they run, the level of commitment needed to run them, etc.

For this position, applicants should have the following:

• Organizational skills
• Clear communication, both in writing and verbally
• Reliable transportation and ability to work some evenings (events will be planned with school schedule in mind) and some weekends
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently

This position is funded by the Regents Service Program and is only open to qualified undergraduate students. Position is 20 hours per week though out the school year. Regents pays undergraduate positions $15/hour. International students are not eligible.
